Swelling caused from wisdom teeth... hot vs. cold?
Continue hot compress or warm compress (not too hot or too warm please), on the affected areas which cause blood vessels to dilate, more blood flow to your vessels, thus aids in the healing process.Stop the cold compress on day two it would only cause vasoconstriction, or vessels to constrict, less blood flow to your vessels and delays the healing. Don't worry swelling is a minor and expected complication post surgical removal of wisdom teeth. If it gets bigger just continue since healing will eventually follow.Maybe it's too warm please adjust the temperature warm enough for you to withstand, not too much......Swelling depends on how much trauma your muscles and bone endure during the surgical procedure. You can also asks additional prescription for Anti- inflammatory, ex. Diclofenac K (Potium) to be taken 3X a day for 5-7days depending on how your system would respond to the treatment. Drink plenty of fruit juices rich in Vitamin C, it also aids/helps in the healing process. Continue Antibiotics10-14days or longer or as prescribed by your surgeon. Take plenty of rests too...Hope this would enlighten you.... God Bless!!!
